On Monday 12th June, the Art department prepared itself for the external moderation process which saw the Art studios transformed into a gallery of excellence, showcasing the talent of pupils in Years 11, 12 and 13.
Both GCSE and A-Level moderators from the WJEC, the Welsh exam board, were very impressed with the excellent standard and diverse nature of work produced by our highly skilled pupils. On display were examples of fine art, digital art, ceramics and textiles. Pupils were particularly praised for thoroughly addressing all four assessment objectives and also for their outstanding ceramic and glazing skills. In fact, the GCSE moderator was so impressed that she sent a colleague from her own Art department to browse the work on display.
Mr Burman, Curriculum Leader for Art & Design, would like to pass on huge congratulations to the pupils for their outstanding achievements in the subject over the last two years. They should feel very proud of the dedication, ambition and artistic flair they have demonstrated in their study of Art and Design.
If you would like to see the incredible work for yourself, the Art department will soon be hosting a private viewing for friends and family. Look out for further details to follow.
