At St. Mikes, pastoral care is an integral part of daily life at St.Mikes, where each Form is like a family unit, with Form teachers playing a pastoral role with the pupils they’ve come to know. Everyone at St. Mikes develops or is encouraged to develop an ability to care and to be responsible, to the point of it becoming entirely natural to be that way.
Daily life is academic, it is also extraordinarily full of enriching opportunities which have been developed by teaching staff passionate about their particular disciplines. Whether music, drama, ICT, sport, lifestyle, our offerings are extensive, using outside facilities in addition to our own. Read more detail depending on whether your child is in Prep, Senior School or Sixth Form.
All pupils take part in assemblies and the Christmas concert and many are involved in the Preparatory School Choir, the Senior School Orchestra and String Group.
Educational visits are organised to support and enhance the delivery of the curriculum. Outings to sites of national heritage, local sites of importance and field trips help bring learning to life. Our pupils’ social development is also very important to us. Activity holidays as well as visits to local theme parks and Father Christmas further enhance our school year.
In addition to the various opportunities available in Speech, Music and Drama, we offer a range of activities to pupils in and outside school. it is important for pupils to be in touch with as many experiences as possible, develop new skills and form new relationships.
Activities on offer include:
Art Academy and Masterclass Art, Chess, Duke of Edinburgh, Photography and various lunchtime sports clubs; Netball, Girls Football, Senior and Junior Football, and Junior Rugby Skills.
