At St Mike’s, our boarders are allowed to remain in school over the half term holidays and we always aim to provide a varied programme across the week. This half term included a trip to Skomer Island, famous for its Puffins.
Mr Jenkins and Mrs Magda accompanied the students with cameras in hand. For once the weather was kind to us and the students enjoyed an outdoor coastal activity.
Skomer Island has something to offer everyone. Surrounded by shaded inlets, offshore rocks and sheltered coves, Skomer is an island full of mystery, discovery, wildlife and adventure…it’s a unique island just waiting to be explored! No matter what time of year you visit, the island’s flora and fauna will leave you breathless with excitement and wishing you could stay for longer.
We landed on the island just after midday and settled down for our lunch in the picnic area. Black bag in hand, we collected the rubbish only to be told that there was no place to dispose of it. Guess who had to carry the bag for the rest of the trip! We decided to have a competition for the best photo of the day and the winning photo would win a Puffin. Not a real one but a rather cute cuddly one. I will let the photos now tell the story of the day.
