At the end of last month our boarders started the half term with a spooky ‘Halloween Party’, the Student Council along with the Head of Boarding, and with the approval of the Headmaster of course, arranged an evening of horror in Tenby House. Very kindly the older boarders welcomed the younger students from Parc House, and together they enjoyed a horror house buffet, Musical Thrones, a Limbo competition and various other horror antics. The best costume effects on the night went to Soyoung, Nam, Michelle and Nasser – although Mrs Gidman was also casting spells that night too!
Across the half term Mr Jenkins provided a number of activities and trips and this included some ‘ups & downs’ at the Trampoline Park in Swansea, as well as a few tumbles on the cycling activity! Fifteen boarders attended an afternoon of cycling with Bikeability Wales. This session was all about gaining confidence on two wheels, as well as general awareness in terms of safety on a bike. The training was delivered by a cycling instructor so all the participants gained something from the session. Everyone, despite a few spills enjoyed the afternoon, and we must congratulate 5 students who passed the Level 1 Cycling Proficiency Certificate; Krystal, Anna, William, Yoon and Jai Jai.
As well as sports over half term, the students visited the Wetlands Centre in Llanelli where they had the chance to do some ‘bird watching’ and observe the wildlife of the wetlands nesting grounds. Of course no half term is complete without a visit to the cinema and a shopping trip, so on this occasion we had two City trips; the seniors went to Bristol for the day with Mrs Gidman, and the Parc House students went to Cardiff which included a visit to St Fagans National Museum of History where students had the chance to learn all about Welsh heritage.
