St. Michael’s boarding offers, strong pastoral care which is, varied, imaginative and challenging. Our aim is to successfully motivate boarders so that they leave us as confident and self-disciplined individuals.
Boarding plays a vital role in the development of young people to be globally minded citizens ready for the challenges of life after school. Our boarding principles are very much based on personal development and pastoral care. We actively promote British values as well as cultural understanding and through this mutual respect is built.
Independence and Friendship
Nurturing individuality, whilst understanding and appreciating the differences of others is a central belief within St. Michael’s boarding life and students develop and flourish during their time with us.
Activities for Boarders
Each term the Activities Manager provides a programme of options that students can choose to do. These take place in the period after-school and before the evening meal and also at weekends.
When students first arrive at the school they will have a personal meeting with the Activities Manager who will discuss their leisure interests and across the year, he will try to meet most student’s interests. Full-Time Boarders in Year 12/13 are given the opportunity to have membership at a local private gym – a tremendous local facility providing our students with unlimited use of its fitness suite, gym classes and swimming pool.
In the evenings, sports like basketball, badminton and soccer are always on the activities menu as these are generally popular with most students. Each term will then offer more individual activities like Yoga, Martial Arts, Boxercise – these will vary across the year.
Alongside sports we also offer a variety of workshops including art, music, photography – these are updated and changed every term reflecting student demand and interests. Please see our current Student Activities timetable.
