Business Studies A level
A-level Business Studies introduces learners to the dynamic business environment and the importance of entrepreneurial activity in creating business opportunities and sustaining business growth. Students will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of essential skills required for progress to higher education and employment. The focus of the course is to nurture an enthusiasm for studying business using contemporary contexts, allowing learners to develop an appreciation of the strategic, complex and inter-related nature of business issues from a local to global perspective.
We study the WJEC specification.
AS level content is focussed on giving a grounding in business functions such as Marketing, Finance, HRM, and Production. You will be introduced to Business Accounts as well as some basic principles of economics.
Here the focus is on extending knowledge gained at AS level. Your understanding of Business Accounts will now include methods of analysis of accounts, we also introduce Management Accounting methods. Business in a global context is an important element of the course as well as business decision making when influenced by external factors.
There is no requirement to have studied Business Studies at GCSE. The ability to write effective analytical responses and a good standard of mathematics are skills that provide a foundation to success in the subject.
