Music

2016-performing3-20rWe recognise the importance of the Arts in all aspects of life.  In Nursery, Reception and Prep School, we promote the Performing Arts by encouraging practical participation wherever possible.

By offering a wide range of opportunities for performance, we try to raise the self-esteem of our pupils and improve social development. We aim to nurture an interest and understanding which will remain with the pupils throughout life, whatever their chosen career.

Nursery, Reception and Pre-Preps

Nursery and Reception receive one lesson of class music per week where they explore all the musical elements of song, movement, rhythm and sounds in a fun and stimulating class.

Pre-Preps have two lessons per week; one music class building on the skills studied in Nursery and Reception and one singing class to encourage group and solo singing.

During the Christmas term, Nursery, Reception and Pre-Preps have an additional double singing session each week to prepare for the Preparatory School Christmas Concert.

Preps 1 – 4

All Prep classes receive one lesson of music and one singing lesson per week. Music lessons develop their skills further in rhythm, music elements, theory and include class performing and improvising. The singing lessons encourage group and solo performing further.

During the Spring term, all Preps have an additional double singing session each week to prepare for the Preparatory School Show.
