On Friday 16th February we held our first Day of International Cultures, celebrating the rich diversity we enjoy in our school. It was great to see so many pupils taking part, wearing traditional dress and highlighting important customs, traditional cuisine, music and language. We were all very impressed by the stalls that had been set up by senior pupils in the main hall. There was widespread representation from across the globe, giving pupils an insight into little known aspects of their peers’ home countries. From the Korean table, you could have your name translated in Korean. From the Iranian table, you could see traditional Iranian dance shown by the students, as used during New Year (Nowruz) celebrations about to happen shortly. From the Chinese table, you could enjoy a fortune cookie and collect some novelty badges of key figures in Chinese history. These were just some of the many wonderful things on offer at our Day of International Cultures and a huge thank you goes to all our pupils and staff for making this possible.
