On Wednesday, as part of the “INSPIRE. ENGAGE. SUCCEED.” awards, Brendan Reilly, double Olympian and Squad in Touch Ambassador, visited the school to present Harry Davies in Year 10 with an outstanding achievement award for his performance in the boy’s discus in the Independent Schools UK National Athletics Finals in Birmingham last summer. Brendan is a famous high-jumper and you may remember seeing him on television during the nineties, competing at the European Championships and the Olympics. During his visit Brendan gave an inspiring and motivating talk on his sporting career and the highs and lows of competing. He reflected on his own incredible experience of recovering from a snapped Achilles tendon to be back competing within 24 months. He owes his recovery to setting challenging milestones during his recovery, as well as benefitting from a top surgeon .We are extremely grateful to Brendan for visiting St. Michael’s School and inspiring our pupils.
