St. Michael’s School named ‘Employer of the Year’
We are extremely proud to announce that the St. Michael’s School has won ‘Employer of the Year’ in the 2024 Skills Academy Wales awards as nominated by Jobforce Wales.
The awards recognise and reward the achievements of learners, employers and providers involved in the delivery of quality apprenticeship programmes. The award was presented to our Head Chef and Catering Manager, Owen Johns, in recognition of the support he has given for training and use of the apprenticeship framework to deliver various catering related qualifications.
Jobforce Wales has worked with St. Michael’s since 2019 and in this time, 10 members of staff have already achieved a qualification and a further two are working towards a qualification. Owen has achieved his Higher Apprenticeship Level 4 in Hospitality Management and as a result has implemented an induction programme and constantly offers excellent support to members of his team.
The award was presented in a ceremony which took place in Neath Port Talbot College and was attended by both Owen and the school’s Headmaster, Mr Benson Ferrari.
Well done to Owen and his team!
