Senior School Trip to Italy
Over October half term Mrs Prickett, Mr Rees, Mrs Dorrington and Mr Lowe accompanied 40 students from years 10-12 on a Geography trip to Italy. The trip took in the wonders of ancient Rome including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican City, St Peter’s Basilica, Pantheon, Piazza Navone and Spanish Steps. The group then enjoyed the spectacular views of the area around Montecassino on the way to the Bay of Naples where Mount Vesuvius dominated the skyline.
It was a privilege to climb to the crater at the top of the active volcano and find out about the eruption that destroyed Pompeii and Herculaneum before visiting the two sites to see for ourselves how people lived prior to the 79AD eruption. The weather was fantastic with blue skies and sunshine daily and temperatures a very pleasant 20-25oC.
Huge thanks to the teachers for giving up their half term and enabling an excellent experience for students.
