Visit to Wales Air Ambulance
Some of our team who took part in the recent Great Welsh Half Marathon, Llanelli, on 2nd April, paid a visit to the Wales Air Ambulance base in Dafen, this week. They presented a cheque for £1,580 to the charity, which consisted of money raised from the half marathon, plus the proceeds of a non-school uniform day held last term.
The staff who attended the visit were fortunate enough to receive a tour of the base and got to have a look inside the helicopter and learn more about its life-saving operation. They were shown around by Community Fundraiser, Hannah Bartlett and Critical Care Practitioner, (CCP) Chris Conner, who is responsible for co-piloting the air ambulance, as well as attending to patients at the scene of an incident and whilst they are being transported to hospital.
The Wales Air Ambulance relies solely on donations from the public and each year requires a minimum of £8 million to remain operational. As a school, we are very keen to support the charity and are looking forward to taking part in their ‘Castles in the Skies’ campaign next year.
